NYTEX Automatic Products Inc., was a
start-up company in Fredericksburg in 1991. The company was founded by
the Thuro family of Brentwood (on Long Island) New York where, since
1971, they have owned and operated Thuro Metal Products, Inc. The
company manufactures precision-machined component metal parts, and
specializes in the utilization of CNC controlled turning and milling
machines as well as multi-spindle, single spindle, and Swiss screw
machines.
NYTEX multi-spindle screw machines have the ability to use up to 3
bar stock. The products produced are used in a variety of fields
including medical, aerospace, oil and gas, appliances, and automotive as
well as many others.
The manufacturing portion of the building is 60 x 190 and consists of
a pre-engineered steel building, insulated, and was built in 1991 on
2.98 acres of land located within the city limits and is serviced by
city water and sewer in addition to having a private well. Prior to
construction, soils testing was done; then, an engineered slab was
designed to accommodate the large and heavy machines used in the
manufacturing process. The electrical requirements for the building were
also designed by a professional electrical engineer. A 5-ton overhead
crane runs the length of the production area of the building.
The office portion of the building consists of 1,420 SF and features
a private office and bath with a shower, a conference room, two
bathrooms, reception area and a large open area. Observations of the
shop can be seen through the large windows from the office.
